Some of the newspaper archive collections on the Gale Cengage web site are currently unavailable and are returning the following error message:
The affected archives are:
The NewsVault database appears to be unaffected and can be used as an alternative.
The problem has been reported to Gale Cengage.
We’re currently experiencing problems linking to articles on the British Medical Journal (BMJ) web site from Summon.
If you see an error page with the message “We apologise but that page cannot be found”, the temporary workaround is to click on the “No full text? Look for more sources” link at the top of the page and then click on the “Search for the full-text” link to get to the article.
There have been problems with the backend Oracle server machine for the CDS. This means that DETHERM, Accord, CrystalWorks and CrystalWeb have experienced errors. Problems for DETHERM and Accord have been fixed. However, problems for CrystalWeb and CrystalWorks remain.
Because of logistical issues it is unlikely that the CrystalWeb and CrystalWorks systems will be fully restored before the weekend of the 18th February.
At present searches using CrystalWeb and CrystalWorks both yield spurious null Hits Lists. Some features of CrystalWorks continue to function, but the system should not be considered reliable.
Please repeat any searches you may have attempted recently when the system has been mended. We will post details on the CDS homepage and via our Twitter link. Further details are available via the link: http://cds.dl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/news/disp?breaking_News
Apologies for any disruption these problems are likely to cause you.
There is currently a problem accessing the Ingentaconnect web site form on campus. This is being investigated and hopefully access will be restored soon.
The CrystalWeb/CrystalWorks, Detherm and Accord databases within the CDS will be unavailable on Sunday 5th February. This is because a major upgrade is being performed on their Oracle Server system.
We advise you to avoid attempting to use the affected components for the duration of the work. Progress updates on the work can be followed on the CDS News area of the CDS homepage and on Twitter.
