Chemical Database Service scheduled maintenance (resolved)

The CDS will not be accessible Tuesday 2nd August 2011 between 7 and 9am. This is due to upgrade work being carried out on the Daresbury site network.

We apologise for any convenience.

Construction Information Service Access (resolved)

We are currently unable to access the Consruction Information Service via Athens at the moment. This has been reported to the supplier. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Maintenance work on-campus (22nd/23rd July)

IT Works Schedule Summer 2011

Maintenance work is being carried out by Yorkshire Electricity on equipment located on campus and power will be switched off between 08:00 and 16:00 on Saturday 23rd July. There will be no access to IT systems on campus, or access to web services from off campus for the duration of the power outage. Once power has been restored, all IT services will be systematically switched back on but due to the amount of equipment this involves, this operation will take a number of hours.

At present, we anticipate that Library Services (such as the library catalogue and access to e-resources) will cease around 4pm on Friday 22nd. Normal service should be resumed by 8pm on Saturday 23rd.

UPDATED – Upgrade to Web of Knowledge (WoK 5.3) and scheduled maintenance

Please be advised that since the scheduled maintenance and change in primary platform to WoK 5.3 on 17 July 2011, there have been reported problems with the Web of Knowledge. Thomson Reuters have now issued the following advisory message:

We are currently experiencing performance issues with Web of Knowledge access, search and navigation. Our technical staff is working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Please be advised that as from 17 July 2011 the new Web of Knowledge (WoK v5.3) will become the primary platform.  This means that all your links to Web of Knowledge will take you directly to the new version.

Due to the upgrade, Thomson Reuters will be performing maintenance to Web of Knowledge, EndNote Web and ResearcherID this coming Sunday, July 17th beginning at 1:00 PM GMT. We expect this maintenance to last approximately 12 hours.

During this time, there may be disruption of service and access to these products.

Ongoing service interruption (resolved)

Library Services are still recovering from a campus wide outage yesterday, which took place just after midday.

I’m pleased to say that the following services have just been restored:

- access to e-resources (journal articles, ebooks, etc) via Summon

At present, the following library services are still down:

- library catalogue (including book renewals)
- self-service facilities for borrowing and returning books

Please accept our apologies for this unplanned downtime. If you have any questions, please email library.support@hud.ac.uk

UPDATE: 3:55pm

The library catalogue is just being brought back up, so you should be able to access your account if you want to renew any items you have on loan.

All items that were due back yesterday (13th July) or today (14th July) should now have a due date of Monday 18th July. As long as the items are returned on (or before) Monday, they will not accumulate any fines. Also, you will now be able to renew those items (unless they’ve been requested by another borrower) without being fined.

Also, both days will be marked as “closed” days on the library system. If you already have overdue items, then no fines will be added for today and yesterday.

UPDATE: 4:35pm

We’ve done some testing and we believe that everything is back up and running normally now. If do you spot anything unusual, please let us know!

Once again, apologies for this period of unplanned downtime.

Networking Issues (resolved)

We’re currently experiencing on-campus networking issues that are affecting some of the library’s services:

- the e-resource login page is down
- some of the extra functionality in the library catalogue (cover scans, etc) is unavailable, which is causing catalogue pages to load slowly
- all services running on the server “australia” are down, including MyReading

The Networks Team are currently investigating.

360 Link downtime (15th July)

Serials Solutions, who host our Link Resolver (360 Link) will be carry on maintenance on their services in July. This may result in short periods of downtime on Friday 15th July 2011, between 6pm and 7pm. If you receive any error messages when clicking on articles in Summon during that hour, please wait a minute and then try again.

Please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused by this planned maintenance.

TRILT broadcast listings (resolved)

There has been a temporary delay in the update of data to TRILT. This  means that at the moment the data only goes up to next Wednesday 13th July - TRILT  usually aim for 10 to 14 days in advance if possible.

TRILT are dealing with the problem but do not have an exact time yet for when this will be fixed.
